Indeed (full story here):

CNN Hologram

Another pic here.

CNN just shot out the following blurbs:

As an extension of CNN’s ‘Magic Wall’, Tonight CNN will use a 3-D 6-foot-long virtual U.S. Capitol and will break down data about the presidential race and report on updates to the House and Senate balance of power. ... Wolf Blitzer to Jessica Yellin “"Jessica, you're a terrific hologram, thank you so much"

Neat(ish) but kinda creepy. I like it.

Hologram on CNN

Astounding...the future of telepresence revealed. It will be an instand hit. High demand...will move to homes within 5 years!

Holograms will effect small business?

Won't these holograms, like of that reporter brought into the CNN news room, put blow-up dolls out of business? Isn't that a concern? Won't that have an impact on the doll industry? For example: that reporter sure was a doll. Now, I already want her in MY living room as a hologram too. See what I mean? Any research on this?

Actually, the "holograms"

Actually, the "holograms" that you saw are not real. If you watched during the segment where they used the 3D capitol, there was one point about 3 seconds after it was turned on, where the newscaster's notes slipped BEHIND the "hologram" when the newscaster was standing at least 15 feet in front of it.

Alas, CNN's "holograms" are simply very good camera tricks that overlay nifty graphics onto the television screen.

I believe that CNN has removed the video from most of their coverage because I cannot find it anywhere, but if you can find it please take at look immediately after they turn it on, if they haven't already deleted those few seconds of video.

Interesting but what What is a Hologram?

I'm not too much of a techie, but the idea of someone being beamed into a room sounds real cool to me and raised a lot of questions and possibilities. My question is what is a hologram and how does it work in lay mans terms?

Obama hologram would be a good idea.
