At the 2008 Personal Democracy Forum, I interviewed Democratic online guru, Phil Noble, founder of PoliticsOnline, who makes the case that a joint Barack Obama / DNC effort will pull in more than $1 billion online.
I had read Noble making the case for $1 billion earlier that month so I had to find out whether or not he really meant it. Sadly, he did.
One.
Billion.
Dollars.
Think about how big that number is folks.
That's enough money to play in a lot more states than the Machine we're typically used to.

I'm not buying it
The Hillraisers donated less than $20,000 to Obama in June. That is awful! And it doesn't bode well for Obama. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/21/hillraisers-donated-less_n_114100.html
In May, McCain raised as much as Obama, which is the month he began a sharp drop off in donations: http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080621/pl_politico/11241
I'm not saying he's going broke, but the cash cow can't and won't last.
Well
Given the fact that about 50% of Barack's donations are under $25 and over 90% are under $200 -- I'd argue that he's not going to be pulling in a majority of his funding through the "HillRaisers."
Further, the Hillary folks are helping her retire her debt to Mark Penn and Co.
I doubt it
I think they're dedicated to a "demoralize the opposition/suppress the vote" strategy. All the news continues in that vein. Conservatives have to learn that that technique is dominating their effort and that we must endeavor to challenge every single instance of wild proclamations like that -- or else we'll feed into their self-fulfilling prophecies. Don't buy it out of hand -- especially not the hand of a Democrat. Then your on their hand out system ;-)
